IE7 & System Works 2005
This error occurs when I try to access the following settings of the Internet Worm Protection of the Norton System Works 2005:
- General Rules
- Trojan Rules
After the error occurs I can't add any other rule, however I can edit and remove the existing rules. The complete error message is as follow:
An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line: 476
Char: 8
Error: 'szModify' is undefined
Code: 0
URL: res://fwui.dll/ruleSummary.htm
I will keep posting information about IE7 as I gather some from its use.
In the meantime I will contact Symantec to see if they have some workaround for this, although I think I will be better off without asking them.
When I was having trouble setting up a connection with an email server that requires SSL the Symantec suggested turning off the email protection, because they (Symantec) did not have support for it.

You can can learn how to fix this on my post IE7 & SW 2005 - Follow up.
And read the Symantec reply here.

Did you find a work around?
Yes I am getting the same error when I try to access both trojan rules and general rules. Please post any information on a workaround or fix. Also, is there a way to see what the default settings for these rules are?
Yeah everywhere accross the net i see the same error from other ppl.
is there a fix for this yet?

Unfortunately not from Symantec.
However if you have access to VisualStudio or any other DLL editor you can try to fix it on your own.
But just a reminder that fixing by yourself have no warranties.

I was successful in fixing the problem!!
I have updated to internet explorer 7 and my norton problems started. I then replaced the dll with the edited version i made and it works fine. If anyone wants the fix or instructions on how to do it post your email address and ill respond accordingly.
Please verify that your niscmnht.dll is the same version as mine.. do a search for it.. rt click on it and go to properties..version tab.. then click on file version and it should be 8.2.0.23
If it isnt that version... post me your email and ill email you so you can send me a copy of your dll and ill edit it and sent it back to you.
